It is time for a new generation of social fundraising.
Schools, sports teams, community groups and great causes can all raise the funds they need, without asking the public for any favours, while giving to the community at the same time.
How do we do this? We have built a program that creates access to a margin that is otherwise lost to the inefficiencies of the grocery store concept of food distribution. This otherwise unavailable margin can be reallocated to the benefit of the school and the community.
In a new initiative, Kredl’s Corner Market is putting together boxes of local produce as a fundraiser.
Kredl’s has spearheaded several similar initiatives in the past, but this is a new structure that Dave Wolpin has been working on. Beaconsfield School was the first to test it out and with great success. Students were sent home with slips and parents and community members placed their orders. The retail value of the packs is approximately $43. They were sold for $40, and the school keeps $10. We received orders for 92 packs, so the school raised $920.
This method of fundraising is sustainable. It doesn’t ask ANY favours of anyone. Kredl’s makes a little money; the packs contain 100% local produce helping suppliers make a little money, and the school is able to raise a little money. Everyone wins! Best of all, it pushes healthy local produce at a great value into the homes of community members and sets a great example for students.
What we have done here is built a program that creates access to a margin that is otherwise lost to the inefficiencies of the grocery store concept of food distribution. This otherwise unavailable margin can be reallocated to the benefit of the community.
We hope to expand this to work with many other schools and do it several times a year.
Best of all, this could be done once a month to raise even more money.
